Enabling Networked Quantum Technologies
NITORION
Engineering the future with networked quantum technology
Based on decades of experience in ion-photon interconnects, Nitorion has developed a novel ion-based quantum networking node with quantum information processing capability and advanced photonic interconnects.
Networked Quantum Technology
The Nitorion quantum networking node is a versatile and unique building block for applications in quantum networking, distributed quantum computing and sensing.
Ion Trap
Technology
Nitorion has developed a unique structure to trap and manipulate atomic ions. It contains advanced features for quantum information processing and quantum networking.
Cavity
Technology
The photonic interconnect is based on optical micro-cavities to enable high speed without compromising the interface’s fidelity. The cavity enhances the interaction between the ion and a photon.
Quantum Technology
Over the last ten years, quantum mechanics has developed from a topic of purely scientific interest to a foundation of a novel technology sector. Employing quantum mechanical effects, novel sensors for magnetic fields, gravity and electromagnetic radiation and atomic clocks were developed and are now commodities for a large number of companies. Quantum computing may potentially revolutionise many industries where progress is limited by computational bottlenecks. And quantum networking may fundamentally change the way to communicate.
Nitorion was born out of the developments of portable atomic clocks and ion-photon interfaces for quantum networking in Prof Keller’s research group.
26 Years of Development
The Nitorion Quantum Networking Node is the culmination of 26 years of development.
